It’s late August, the fall weather is creeping in, and students are back on campus. That can only mean that it’s time for some football…college football!
It’s that time of year when co-eds and alums alike, cheer for their schools on Saturday afternoons. So to get you prepped for the season we’ve written you a study guide for the 2012 football season. So get ready for the pageantry and tradition that college football has to offer.
New Kids On The Block:

There are some new faces in different conferences this year along with some teams making the jump to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). In the Big-12, West Virginia and TCU were added to replace the lost of Texas A&M and Missouri to the SEC. Temple has rejoin the Big East after about a decade away from the conference. Fresno State, Hawaii, and Nevada leave the WAC for the Mountain West, while the WAC takes on FBS newcomers Texas State and UT San Antonio. UMass and South Alabama also make the jump to the FBS and will compete in the MAC and Sun Belt respectively. Lots of moves this year, and more to come in the next few years.
The Usual Suspects:

This year is no different from the past few years when it comes to the top teams in the nation. Watch for USC, LSU, Alabama, Oregon, and Oklahoma to do what they do best, and that’s win.
Big Men On Campus:

This year’s batch of top players and Hiesmen hopefuls is as talented as ever, but is minus one “honey badger” Tyrann Mathieu. But keep your eyes on USC QB Matt Barkley, Wisconsin RB Montee Ball, Oklahoma QB Landry Jones, Michigan QB Denard Robinson, and West Virginia QB Geno Smith.
Urban Renewal?:

Can Urban Meyer fix the mess at Ohio State? Short answer, yes. He is the best recruiter in college football, and his track record is impeccable (104-23 and 2 BCS National Champions). Urban has an opportunity to turn Ohio State into an absolute juggernaut in college football. But for now, he just needs to guide the Buckeyes through their NCAA sanctions and back on track. Don’t expect Ohio State to have another seven loss season or to see another one anytime soon with Urban at the helm.
The college football season kicks off this week with a bevy of great match ups, and watch all season long until a BCS Champion is crowned.
