In the age of the Internet, getting our information has become much easier to do and has allowed us to find the information we want. But there is a hefty price to pay for this great convenience, and that’s the death of civil political discourse.
With all of us receiving the information that we want to read, hear, or see, we have now labeled anything we don’t like as “wrong.” So much so, that even the United State Congress has become a place where compromise is now a dirty word, and work is no longer done. A time has come in this country for a rebirth of civility. For this great nation to move forward, both the Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservative alike, must work together for the betterment of the people and not their party.
Both sides speak in term of “taking back their country,” but the truth of the matter is it’s “our” country. This country belongs to liberals, conservatives, libertarians, socialist, whites, blacks, everybody. This is our country, and the divisive and hate-filled language will only bog this nation down.
So call your Congressman, and demand that they cross the aisle and compromise for the betterment of the country. Demand that they put their country before their party. And let them know that they are replaceable as long as they keep up their Democant and Republicant ways up. But most importantly, remember that we are all American and that we all have a right to our own opinions and we should respect those opinions. United we stand, and divided we fall.
